Jack's workshop evoked a lot of thoughts on class management, including the reason behind some class problems, the way to give effective instructions, and some possible measures to deal with certain misbehaviors from the students. I believe all the teachers have got something from this workshop and would improve our skills to manage the class so that the students can study in  a good atmosphere. From now on, I will try to put some strategies into practice. For example, I will show more open and confident gestures to the students to help them understand my intention better. I will also try to connect their goals in the future with our learning to arouse their interest and motivation. Let's wait and see what effect those skills can bring.

Today Jack gave us an excellent workshop about class management. We talked about the problems students had in class and solutions that could help us to manage our class. After this, I got a lot of good ways to deal with problems in class. Firstly, in our class, the number of rules should be between three and six. The rules should be clear and effective. What's more, our instructions should be clear, like what am I doing, when should I start and with whom can I do it.  Finally, the consequences for students misbehaving should be mildly unpleasant and short in duration. I am really grateful that Jack gave us so much effective, helpful and specific advice. What a wonderful workshop!

@ Emily

Jack’s workshop today gave me a lot of food for thought, which will hopefully help me to manage my own classes more efficiently and successfully. It was helpful to be reminded about how to have clear expectations when giving instructions and also the particulars of having consequences in class, most importantly that certainty trumps severity. I hope to implement Jack’s suggestions, and I really appreciate the research he did to inform us about classroom management strategies.
