突如其來的一場疫情讓所有師生不得不轉(zhuǎn)移戰(zhàn)場,,在網(wǎng)絡(luò)虛擬課堂,,不能面對面學習,,應該怎樣學習英語呢,?作為外國語學校,,提升學生的口語能力一直是老師們教研的重點,,下面就讓我們以初二年級為例一起走進初中英語網(wǎng)絡(luò)課堂,,看看初二英語備課組的老師們帶領(lǐng)孩子們在口語提升領(lǐng)域走過的探索之路吧,!
探索一:在線直播課堂,問題引領(lǐng)練口語
在線學習期間,,初二英語組采用了在線直播的方式,,設(shè)置系列問題層層推進學習,同時還可以通過學生的回答了解對知識的掌握程度,,遇到開放式的問題,,孩子們各抒己見,不僅鍛煉了口語能力,,還能聽到親切的聲音,,仿佛回到了熟悉的教室,大家開心地討論著某個話題,。
在話題選擇上,,老師們以時事為主線從不同角度選擇素材豐富課堂內(nèi)容,經(jīng)過多次集體備課確定了新冠疫情簡介,,預防措施,,疫情播報,話說蝙蝠,,比爾蓋茨談防疫,,疫情中的斗爭精神,近代大型傳染病,,在線學習,,一代球星的隕落作為在線教學素材,,這些素材和時事聯(lián)系緊密,貼近學生生活,,容易吸引學生興趣,,同時形式多樣,方便調(diào)整教學模式,,多角度調(diào)動學生積極性,。
探索二:穿插小組活動,,在線口語輸出
每天課上的輪流回答問題仍然滿足不了學生們練習口語的強烈愿望,,怎么辦呢?沒關(guān)系,,還有我們的保留項目——小組活動,,把班級分成4至5人的幾個小組,分別建群,,老師分配任務(wù)后開始小組內(nèi)活動,,可以針對一個問題進行探討,可以朗讀文章組內(nèi)評價語音,,也可以設(shè)置情境,,組內(nèi)采訪。而老師可以加入各個群觀察每個小組的任務(wù)完成進度,,及時督促或提供幫助,。例如,講到近現(xiàn)代大型傳染病的話題時,,老師們引導學生分組完成關(guān)于SARS,,西班牙大流感,黑死病和埃博拉病毒的介紹,,學生制作了精美的手抄報和錄屏演講,。
探索三:每日疫情播報,學生輪流做主播
Daily report一直是學生口語展示的傳統(tǒng)項目,,在線學習當然也一樣不可或缺,,結(jié)合新冠疫情,老師們給學生講解了和疫情發(fā)展相關(guān)的詞匯,,并安排學生輪流做主播,,每天課前做疫情播報,有機會當上主播的同學,,別提有多神氣了,!
探索四:中外教攜手聯(lián)合教研,學生口語展示效果好
分布在美國,、新西蘭,、蘇格蘭等國家的外教們也為隔離在家的孩子們發(fā)來了主題微課視頻,,地道的口語、純正的發(fā)音鍛煉了學生們的聽力,,提升了語音準確度,,豐富的文化內(nèi)容也為同學們打開了另一扇通向世界的窗戶。同時,,受到外教啟發(fā),,看完外教視頻后,學生們也躍躍欲試,,以錄屏或者錄像的方式做起了鏡頭后面的聲音主播,,不管是怎樣的授課模式,都阻擋不了孩子們展示口語的熱情,!
探索五:充分利用網(wǎng)絡(luò)資源,,全方位“說”起來
學生雖然隔離在家,但是網(wǎng)絡(luò)同樣也給大家的學習帶來很多便利,。趣配音,,E聽說,全民K歌都被師生充分利用起來,,學習了senses and tastes,,配一段“五種感官,致超能力的你”,,學習了抗疫英文歌Fight the virus和Charm of the dawn bell,,我們也唱起來!
學生在線授課期間在口語方面的體驗與收獲:
@初二(1)班 范欣琪:We have studied online for a few weeks, our English teacher led us to gain as much knowledge as we do in school. Online classes activities are colorful and meaningful. We’ve learnt about the epidemic prevention and control, we make our own audio about fighting virus by talking online. It’s quite useful for us to understand the information about the NCP and improve our speaking ability as well. Besides, we had group work during our online classes. We enjoyed the interaction with partners. What’s more, we had the chance to give a presentation in class. Undoubtedly, we benefited language speaking skills through giving presentation.
@初二(2)班 徐可心:In January, a sudden outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia messed up our normal pace of life and learning. When I was worried about our study, surprisingly, the Bureau of Education told us that we were going to study online, which they call Online Courses. I was so nervous and curious about how we study online when I got this public notice, also I was little afraid about our learning quality. On the first day of online study, I thought it would be boring and dull, but on the contrary, it's absolutely a new leaning style! Teachers have brought us interesting courses, and we can learn many different things. For example, we’ve learnt many things about the epidemic, like the vocabulary and the prevention. We’ve also researched some similar diseases of the past in groups, and we even recorded videos of our researches and voted for the best group. Sometimes, we read all kinds of articles and chat to exchange our ideas in groups. When the sparks of thought collide, our teacher gives us her suggestions in oral language. What’s more, we do the daily report at the beginning of the class every day. It's interesting that we can not only know what colorful things the classmates do at home, we can also practice the oral English at the same time! That's really awesome and make my oral language better and better!!
Although English online class is a new way of learning, it benefits me a lot. By the way, I want to say, the worse the situation is, the more we can't stop learning, instead, we should study harder and be responsible for our own achievements and study.
@初二(3)班 張馨瑤: Because of the outbreak of COVID-19, we have to stay at home and have online classes. In English class, I feel I learn more skills about oral language. Although there is a limitation of learning resources, we also do some useful things to practice speaking, such as making a video and doing presentation, which makes me learn more new vocabularies. I was very nervous when I speak English before, thanks to the practices of various training on online, I never feel nervous now and I was really clam and show my presentation. I am not a student who is good at oral language, but I can show my presentation without being nervous, that is a big progress to me.
Online classes is a new type of study, doing presentation and making video is also a good way to improve the ability of speaking, I’m sure I can make more progress in the future!
@初二(6)班 李佳燁:During the outbreak of covid-19,online English classes improved my spoken English. Before each English class, we have to make a daily report in turn. The specific content is that we need to understand the news and make a presentation on the recent news. I reported on interviews with nurses who supported Wuhan during the covid-19 outbreak. I made the PPT first, then wrote the speech and recorded the audio. It didn't take me long to write a speech, but it took me four hours to record the audio. Every time the recording is half way there will be a pronunciation error, affect the effect of the entire audio. Then I tried to read the speech and record it. After many failures and attempts, I became less nervous. Finally, the last recording was flawless. Of course, more than once. After that, we gave a speech on virus knowledge in groups. In the subsequent Ebola speech, I overcame various problems and made a big breakthrough compared with the first speech. This has greatly improved my spoken English.
In the online English class, we learned a lot about novel coronavirus. But I think my biggest improvement during this period is spoken English, which is a big leap.
@初二(6)班 張博揚:In the recent online English classes, we had loads of interesting activities, especially in speaking. During the course,we often turn on the microphone to have a conversation with our English teacher. Moreover, we can read the excellent articles given by our teacher to improve our English speaking skills.Our teacher also arranged many interesting group-speaking activities.We can chat with the group members by voice and communicate in English.After class,we improve our speaking by recording videos and dubbing English videos. Generally,during the course,the students' spoken language has improved a lot, and we also feel that this activity is very meaningful.
@初二(9)班 高新博:These days, because of the outbreak of the epidemic, the government appeal schools to have classes on the Internet in order to prevent us from being infected. Certainly, our school responded to the call and we started to have online courses.
For our English class, we do some different activities that are associated with the current affairs which are effective to our English learning. For example, we do daily epidemic report, which helps us speak out cold numbers using our own words, making them into sentences and expressing them to teachers and classmates.
What’s more, we also do English dubbing associated with the epidemic. That practices the imitation skill, which is very important in training pronunciation. I have achieved a lot in spoken language by doing these interesting tasks.
At last, I believe we will win the fight against the virus, and thanks to the doctors and nurses working on the front line of the battlefield, and our teachers who prepared such wonderful classes for us!
